Get hip to this timely tip: the LA County Fair is taking visitors on a nostalgic road trip of iconic highway attractions, neon signs and all the kitsch that makes up the vanishing American roadside. Announcing the 2018 theme: Get Your Kicks…at the LA County Fair. The Fair runs Aug. 31 through Sept. 23.

Grab the kids, grab the sweetheart and prepare to meander down the Main Street of America – Route 66. It winds from Chicago to LA and right to the gates of Southern California’s historic
LA County Fair. Uniquely situated just off Route 66, the LA County Fair draws the majority of its guests from the legendary highway corridor, from San Bernardino to Santa Monica.

And if the theme doesn’t get your wheels rollin’, the new value Get Your Kicks exclusive ticket package will: four season passes, parking, lanyards and special gift box for just…$66. The limited-time offer goes on sale today through Sunday, Feb. 25.

The price packaging doesn’t end there – a new $6.60 meal menu will be offered as the Fair drives guests to value.

“Our Route 66 theme speaks to the heartfelt love of America we all share and reflects the return to our roots that our guests are seeking,” said Miguel A. Santana, President & CEO of Fairplex. “This year’s fair will deliver on those promises, offering all the pieces for a fun family outing or date night at a terrific value.”

Regular admission remains the same as last year.

Each Fair exhibit will feature a Route 66 theme.

Guests will take a walking trip from Chicago to Santa Monica at the Get Your Kicks on Route 66 attraction. Replicating the most iconic sites from the 2,448-mile trek, this mini road trip takes guests through Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and Arizona, stopping at famous mile markers like the world’s largest rocking chair and the Cadillac Ranch. It wouldn’t be Route 66 if there wasn’t a Wigwam Motel, straight from Arizona. A visit to La Verne, California, takes visitors to the historic Mt. Baldy Drive-In where they can enjoy a vintage movie while snacking on popcorn and old-fashioned candy from the snack bar. The trip ends at a replica of the Santa Monica pier, complete with seaside snack shacks and aerial entertainment.

“The LA County Fair is turning back the clock to a time when America's roads brought people together from across our nation, unifying us as we explored the delightful surprises nestled in communities across this land,” Santana said.

The Fair will also feature its carnival, operated by Ray Cammack Shows; the End of Summer Concert Series; farm animals; food; shopping and more. This is one road trip worth the drive. All attractions, with the exception of the Carnival and reserved seats to concerts, are included with the price of admission.

Regular admission will not increase for 2018: weekday admission is $14 for adults (ages 13+), $8 for children (ages 6-12) and $10 for seniors (ages 60+); weekend admission is $20 for adults, $12 for children and $15 for seniors. Children ages 5 and younger are always free. Special value days include School Supply Wednesdays and Food Drive Thursdays – bring five new school supplies or five canned goods on the respective days and get in free from noon to 5 p.m. All donations will go to local charities. More specials are available – check the website.

Stay tuned for more announcements as the LA County Fair rolls out the End of Summer Concert Series lineup and announces new exhibits & attractions.

Until then, why not sign up for a competition? Competitions and contests – many of which have a Route 66 theme – are open now for adults and children. A blue ribbon would look cool hanging from the rear view mirror as you cruise down the boulevard. Plus, a blue ribbon is very Instragrammable!
