BOU Cubes are not only BETTER for you, but they make cooking FUN!!

These are not your Mama's Old Boullion Cubes!!

  We had the honor of receiving several boxes of BOU Cubes to try and hand out samples at our summer Macaroni Kid Events. I honestly could not remember when I used a bouillon cube last. I remember as a child, my Mom used to use them in soups, and stews. I used to enjoy opening them up and throwing them in the pot. Only thing I remember was they were salty. We do try to eat healthy and keep our sodium down, so I just never used them, unless it was needed. I was really intrigued with the BOU brand! Reading up on them on their website that you can find HERE. I was so excited to find out that they are gluten free, had less salt, NO artificial ingredients and are NON GMO. You mean I actually found something that was good for you, but would not sacrifice flavor?!?!?! I was sold. 

  When our boxes arrived, I was so excited to open up those cute little jars! I absolutely LOVED their packaging. And I know I am going to find some crafty purposes with the empty jars. But that's another story. We received samples of Chicken, Vegetable Flavored Bouillon Cubes and Mushroom and Chicken Gravy Cubes. We now had to figure out what we would make first. I decided to visit the BOU website again for some recipe inspiration! You can find some recipe inspiration HERE. We are planning to make a video of our teenage son grilling with BOU this weekend! And when we do, we will link it in this article. 



  We are a grilling family! My son decided to make some marinated chicken with our dinner, and he used the chicken cubes in his marinade. And the end result was delicious! We really did not have a recipe, to follow we just experimented with this meal. And to be quite honest, it was AMAZING!! We had a few guests over for dinner and there was NO left overs. I made my Pasta Pomodoro with home grown tomatoes and I used a vegetable bouillon cube in my sauce. I loved it! I will have to share that recipe next time. We paired it with a salad. 




  My Dad has used the cubes in rice for several dinners. It makes standard wild rice or jasmine rice have a kick and a pop of flavor! Now considering we have a picky 5 year old, she loves that her Poppa uses the "magic cubes" in his wild rice. What was once deemed taboo is now YUMMY!! She is even beginning to experiment with gravy. I am in no way, shape or form a gravy fan. BUT after I tried the Mushroom Gravy, I was in love!! So yummy over vegetarian meatballs. And I am looking for new ways to incorporate it into dinner time! We used the Chicken Gravy as a fun dipping sauce for our daughter. That was totally kid approved. Next up on our list to try is the Roasted Strawberry and Avocado Grilled Cheese and Cauliflower Fried Rice in Pineapple Boats from the BOU website. 



  You might be wondering, where on earth can I buy these magical and good for you cubes?!?!?! My friend Tammy took this picture and sent it to me from work. This is the BOUshelf at Whole Foods!
