A note from your Publisher! Normally I don't share things that are out of the area, or neighborhood. BUT this event is TOO GOOD NOT TO SHARE!! I hope you can go with your family! I think you will love it. You don't find old fashioned block parties like this with a comic book twist. I wrote this article for my Monterey Park site originally, but I figured I had to share with ALL me AWESOME Glendale subscribers! Thanks for supporting us! Enjoy!

Hey kids!! Did you grow up in San Gabriel? Or have friends who did. Remember the good old "Village". Do you remember the Village Market? Mi Casita? And all the other great spots. Thank heavens Toyo Miyatake is still there! They just did the portraits for my daughter's dance show. The apple truly does not fall far from the tree with that. Just like old times.  I grew up in San Gabriel and during my Teen years we lived just down the street from the Village shops! My Uncle still lives in the good ol' Village. True it's not what it used to be. But those memories are still there for so many of us! It's crazy to think so many of us have children and teenagers. Seems like only yesterday when we were their ages. Well check this out! If you love nostalgia and you might be into anime or comic books or super hero......... You are in for a REAL treat!!

Come relive the old glory days in the Village at Fairview Con!! Bring the whole family! Bring your friends and come block party with us in San Gabriel! The whole event starts Thursday August 2nd from 6-10 pm. It is part of the awesome summer series. Fairview will be closed for traffic. The whole event takes place between North and South Circle Drive. You can easily find parking on any of the side streets. If you are a local you know were to go! And if you don't, don't worry! There is ton of street parking both North and South of Fairview. If you have never stopped through these parts, COME ON DOWN!! Come to the BEST summer block party in the SGV.

First off there is going to be food!! What is a block party without food! There will be several food vendors popping up and a few food trucks. One of my very favorite dessert trucks will be parked with their out of this world churros! Ridges Churro Bar!!! You can grab a pretty awesome burger from  LA. Burger Bar and Spitz is pooping up. One of my favorite spots Nomad Ice Pops, will be bringing their cart! My friend Geoff only uses the BEST in his handmade Ice Pop bars!! I guarantee you will find a flavor you will love!! Buy two or three! Try them all. And San Gabriel's own brewery Ogopogo Brewing will be ready with a cool brew on tap!

Next up they have vendors! Artisans and Comic Book Illustrators, Writers and Exhibits! I think one of the best things about the event is Mike Senna’s WALL-E robot will be in his booth! If you are a Pixar and Disney Fan like me, you will LOVE this opportunity. His WALL-E has been featured at Disney's D23 Expo. It is absolutely gorgeous!! And a true work of art. There will be tons of photo opps and shopping opps.

Costume Contest!! Come dressed up! Dress up your kids. And a game truck!! Yes! The Game Truck will be rolling in for your Gaming Needs!! I am sure both kids and adults will enjoy this! We love having the Game Truck come over to our house for parties, and If you have never seen one, or enjoyed one. Here's your chance! I highly recommend them for Birthday Parties for teenagers!

And Music!! YES! Some of the Village's own will be on stage for two sets. They played last year at the inaugural Fairview Con! Come by and see The Volcanics play! Here is a brief description about their sound from their own Facebook page. "The Volcanics are a high energy, "Dance and Show Combo" from the San Gabriel Valley in Southern California. Their dynamic sound (along with their sweaty mismatched blue cardigan sweaters), draws from a wide variety of influences: early 1960's surf instrumentals to stompin' frat rock and roll dance tunes. The Volcanics represent good ol' fashioned youth, fun and excitement for all thrill seeking crowds alike. So get ready to erupt into a dancing frenzy and stomp your feet to the thunderous sounds of The Volcanic beat!"

I guess that about covers it! Come on down with your family, and hang out for the evening! It's going to be a SUPER good time! Hope to see you there.
