The Omni La Costa Carlsbad is the perfect family getaway!!

Elegant, stylish and kid friendly! Review of our unforgettable weekend.

Last month I took my family to the Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad for the weekend. We headed down south for Mac Academy. I was able to attend a one day training for Macaroni Kid Publishers held at the Omni. We don't live too far from Carlsbad. Maybe 90 minutes or more depending on traffic. We arrived and we were in awe at the lush landscaping as we drove in. Check in was a breeze! Our daughter was given an Omni kid pack. She happily accepted. Next we unloaded the car and the bell hop loaded our suitcases into the golf cart and he drove us to our stop off point. He parked and helped us with our luggage to our room. I put her little Omni pack on the bed for a quick picture.

Everything about our room was gorgeous. I especially liked all the attention to detail the Omni takes pride in. The room had a gorgeous back patio and french doors that really allow the coastal breeze to fill your room in the evenings. The bathroom was absolutely stunning. The toiletries they provide are outstanding. A definate spa grade. The back patio is so nice and private. There are also adorable wild bunnies hopping around, birds and tranquil green landscape.

My teenage son especially enjoyed his down time on this trip. And took full advantage of the patio, gym and pools. He deemed the lounge chair "his spot" for the weekend. He took an interest in golf while we were there. The Omni is home to some very sought after courses. I am not a golfer, but if I was I would be in heaven. Next off we got settled and explored the property before I was meeting friends for dinner that evening at Vue. One of the nicest things about the resort, is you don't have to leave. There are countless options for food. Casual, classy and fine dining. During our stay we dined at Vue, the Marketplace and the Splash Cafe. You could take your kids to Kidtopia, and take the evening off and dine at Bob's Steak and Chop House for an adult evening out. We also had an amazing breakfast buffet during our conference and a gorgeous al fresco lunch outdoors in one of their many breathtaking locations. The food was delicious and the presentation was Instagram worthy. This flan was not only stunning, the taste was incredible! One of the BEST Flans I have ever encountered. The fresh berries added just perfect flair and taste to the palette

The Omni has 8 pools! Yes, 8!! Not many resorts offer that many aquatic options. There is a pool reserved for Spa guests. I did not have time to review the Spa, but I hope to be able to go back and do that soon. There is a pool for adults to enjoy, 21 and over only. And a  Villa and Garden pool. We spent our time at the family friendly Sandy Beach Family Pool and Splash Landing Pools. I was in pure bliss. Ample seating, umbrellas, cabanas and servers to take your Splash Cafe orders. The fact that you can relax in a gorgeous spot, with breathtaking views, watch your kids and still feel like you are on a fancy vacay sold me! The Sandy Beach pool is the perfect depth for small kids. They can walk freely through it. And it does not go deeper than 3 feet if I remember correctly. My daughter loved it! And she loved swimming with her friend. When they get tired of swimming or water play, they can build sand castles in the beach area. The water is a perfect temperature too. I enjoyed going in and wading with her. Just a few steps away are the Splash Landing Pools. Our teenager hung out over there with his sister or spent time solo going down the slides and chilling in the pool. There are 3 slides, one for smaller children and two large slides, one open and one enclosed. Please note, they have a lifeguard stationed at the pools. As a former lifeguard myself, I always love to see guards at hotel pools. It gives you an extra bit of comfort. But remember, you must stay with your kids while they are in the pools at all times. Last but not least, they have an awesome splash pad to enjoy. We truly had the BEST stay and I can not wait to go back and spend more time at the pools.

One of our favorite parts of the weekend was the nightly Smores!! The Omni sets up a Smores station in their town square. They have a little fire pit set up, and all the Smores ready for you. Just pick your flavor of Chocolate! Milk or Cookies n' Cream. And grab a bamboo skewer with a marshmallow attached. And get to work toasting your marshmallow. Our entire family enjoyed this FREE activity nightly during our stay. It was such a nice view to see so many families together outdoors simply enjoying something as simple as toasting a marshmallow. In this day and age you really loose sight of the simple things in life. Those little things that mean the most.

There is actually SO much more I could write about, but to keep things brief this first time around..... Plan your next family weekend get away at the Omni La Costa! I just can not express what a spectacular time I had. We had!! BOTH my kids are itching to go back and explore. My husband loved the tranquility of the resort and the peace and quiet. I loved the ambiance, the location, the views, the pools and the many kind and attentive Omni staff that helped make our stay unforgettable. Thank you Omni! I truly can not wait to go back. Until next time. I will have Smores dreams thinking about you.
